The Steak and Guinness Pie is rich and flavourful, wrapped in a flaky crust that pairs perfectly with their selection of local ales.
For meat lovers, the Mixed Grill Platter, Sirloin Steak, and 16oz Rump Steak will not disappoint. Reviews
Staff are brilliant. Food is good, not cheap, but reasonable value for money, and great compared to some pubs! There is not a lot of choice for non-red meat eaters. Atmosphere is variable - today is very noisy. Sometimes very quiet - occasionally great music.
Met a friend here for lunch. We both had the Caesar Salad which I forgot to take a picture of, and we shared a side of chips. The salad was delicious, the dressing, the combination of the perfectly cooked chicken and the slightly salty crispy bacon was a delight. The croutons were fantastic too, big, chunky and not at all greasy. The chips were also really really good. Now I was actually full after the salad so it's a good job that I have a pudding tummy too for the sticky toffee pudding, pictured. Delightful. I recommend booking as I think you would be sad to not get a table. I will be DEFINITELY be bringing my family here on many many occasions. Traditional pub feeling. Plenty of car parking, seating outside. Great family atmosphere. Oh and reasonably priced. Wonderfully friendly and professional staff who made you feel welcome and like you had known them forever in an instant. Genuinely zero negatives from me other than wanting to try the whole menu.
Visited for father's day, plenty of tables and space as we were a group of 8. The carvery was lovely, will definitely be coming back again for that. The staff were also lovely, quick and polite.
Ye Olde Windmill is a gem of a place. Lots of character inside and a pleasant atmosphere. The surrounding area is beautiful with views for miles on a clear day. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. On this occasion we opted for the carvery which was superb. Meat servings were very generous, Yorkshire puddings are huge and the choice of vegetables is excellent. I highly recommend a visit and I would book a table as it is popular.
Stumbled across this little gem while on a walk over the common . We have been twice now . Both times staff, food and atmosphere been very good . The carvery on Sunday is really good . I’m not usually a fan of carveries but I couldn’t fault anything . Great choice of meat and veg and all freshly cooked. Hoping to get there on a Friday night when there is live music . Pay a visit - you won’t be disappointed
